Kym's Reflection on Instructional Software

I think using computers and other forms of technology in the classroom are very important at any age/grade level. But I do believe that some teachers use technology so they can say they use it and that others are still afraid to use it. I believe that is very important to have balance in your classroom. Teachers need to use direct instruction (traditional teaching) in a whole group or small group setting regardless of age. In first grade read alouds and hands on projects are necessary as well. I believe that technology is necessary but it does not need to be in every lesson. In my classroom computers and other technologies are used daily but they are integrated and embedded into the curriculum. There is a lot of instructional software out there that is very useful. But, it worries me when I hear people talking about how traditional teaching is on its way out.
